UNoutcasted Dance Lab
Using the contemplative arts and somatic embodiment, we will explore and scoop up any parts that have been outcasted on the dancefloor. Using the contemplative arts and somatic embodiment, we will explore and scoop up any parts that have been outcasted on the dancefloor.
Because this is an invitation to all. To all who want to dance and know how much they belong in their body. Whether you want to unlock new dance shapes, heal past dancefloor bullying, or just feel more included at all the weirdo dance things.
This is for you. To dust off the cobwebs buried in your psyche, holding you back from letting your freak flag fly. Because we came here for more than love. We came for liberation. And to live fully awake.
This series (lab) is made for the shy one, the oddball, the loud one, the one who didn’t always get invited to the thing, the one with chronic pain, the cool one, and the weird one. In this lab, we will explore common dancefloor blocks.
WHY?
So next time you go to dance, you can access more of yourself, feel more comfortable, and have more fun. Fun as an act of liberation. Filling your body with its birthright of joy.
How are we going to do this?
Well, meet your gurl Tarea. Local city witch, unshaming babe, and dancefloor baddie. Tarea will be teaching you somatic tools to integrate these shadow dance parts. Using trauma healing tools, parts work, somatic healing, and her background in dance and performative arts. There will be a combination of solo, group, and partner practices. Because it takes a community to UNoutcast.
At the end, there will be a pressure-free, silly, wild, and weird performance to showcase your UNoutcast part and celebrate with your fellow dancing fam.
NO-You don’t need any dance experience
YES-You can be a dance professional
NO-You don’t have to like dancing all the time
YES-You want to like dancing more and feel good about it
We will be exploring taboo topics and emotions, although this will be rooted in play, sometimes that can include adult temper tantrums and rage exploration. We will also be covering parts that have felt shamed, which can be vulnerable, although there will be trained professionals. Consider coming with a friend to support you and cheer you on if you are feeling nervous.
There will be a snack and elixir break at the halfway mark. Please feel free to bring snacks to contribute to the break time.
The building has a wheelchair ramp and a chair ramp for taking people up the stairs. I have been told that sometimes it doesn't work, but if that happens, the repairman is down the street to help and be on call.
**Things that will be of high priority at this event.
Do your best to recognize your privilege, breathe that knowledge into your heart, anchor it into the land we will be moving on, and walk in the space with reverence for others. Consent always. Consent with touch and energy. Presence and the quality of it are great helpers in creating a safer environment. Zero tolerance for harm.
***Please refrain from wearing perfumes or colognes, as many are sensitive to these, and it can cause discomfort.
We recognize that Cowichan Station was established as a settler community that displaced and gravely disrupted the lives of the Quw’utsun’ people. We recognize that this is part of a colonial history that has caused great and ongoing harm to First Nation peoples in and beyond this place that we call home. We also recognize that we bear the responsibility for doing all that we can to work toward reconciliation and understanding between cultures, in the hope of building a better future for us all.

Yoni Soma: Pelvic Floor Workshop
What if your pelvic floor had a voice? Would you know how to listen?
This 2-hour workshop offers a clear, empowering approach to pelvic floor health — rooted in awareness, connection, and relationship rather than force or “just do more Kegels.”
Through accessible guidance and gentle practices, you’ll learn how the pelvic floor functions, explore both activation and relaxation, and release chronic holding through somatic movement, fascia work, and yin yoga.
Slowly taught, jargon-free, and suitable for beginners and experienced movers alike.
This workshop is for you if you:
Feel disconnected or unsure how to engage your pelvic floor
Experience tension, numbness, or weakness
Want strength without gripping
Are navigating childbirth, perimenopause, or menopause
Feel something is still missing after physio or Kegels
You’ll leave with practical tools, greater clarity, and a deeper embodied connection.
Investment: $44 Early Bird (by Feb 24) | $65 Regular
Registration: E-transfer to hyasarah@hotmail.com + follow-up email for prep details
